Fotofacial Intense Pulsed Light treatments reduce the sign of aging and sun damage and restore natural beauty to your skin with no downtime.
The Fotofacial treatment regimen consists of a series of five full-face treatments with intense, non-laser visible light (Photoderm). This series of treatments helps reduce redness and flushing, diminish brown spots and blotchiness, and improve skin texture.
Fotofacial treatments were developed and first introduced by a Board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Patrick Bitter, as a non-ablative technique for rejuvenation with no downtime.
A non-laser intense pulsed light source, Eclipse (Candela), is used for Fotofacial treatments. This device has been used since the mid 1990’s to safely and effectively treat blood vessels, redness, birthmarks, rosacea, leg veins and other conditions. With the introduction of the Fotofacial, multiple, gentle, whole face Photoderm treatments are performed at three week intervals in order to improve signs of aging and sun damage (photodamage).

What are the advantages of Fotofacial over chemical peels and microdermabrasion?
Chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and microdermabrasion do not improve redness, flushing or enlarged/dilated blood vessels. Fotofacial is an excellent treatment for such redness and flushing on the face, neck and chest. Also with Fotofacial, there is less discomfort, no downtime and immediate return to normal activities. Fotofacials may be used in combination with microdermabrasion or chemical peels in order to enhance results of these procedures. Fotofacials have been demonstrated to stimulate new collagen production and thus may have more long lasting effects than microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Fotofacial may also be used in conjunction with other non-ablative laser procedures such as Smoothbeam or Vbeam, and may be combined with Botox.
