Q: Why should I choose to get my facial in a dermatology and cosmetic surgery office as opposed to a spa?
A: There are many reasons to get your facial here at DCSC as opposed to other spas and dermatology offices. If you have a skin condition such as keratosis, acne vulgaris, psoriasis or any skin tags, or marks that look suspicious, you have a direct pipeline to our excellent, leading medical staff to address the issue, perform a biobpy or write a prescription. Another reason is, you will get to learn about other skin rejuvenation processes that you may not realize are availabe and could benefit you. There is an overwhelming amount of technology and cosmetic lasers on the market today, your aesthetician can help to break it down for you, and if interested you could book a consultation with Dr. Elizabeth Rostan and our Cosmetic Consultant, Tami Hess. At our office, we ensure our aesthetician's are educated and encourage them to continue with their education. That way they are up-to-date with the ever changing skin care industry and always know the best kinds of treatments for skin correction, and maintenance and prevention. So, not only do you have an entire clinical staff with the option of other cosmetic treatment at your fingertips, you also learn home skincare and receive the medical grade treatments overseen by doctors, but you also get a chance to relax and unwind during your treatmetn. We don't hustle you in and out. We provide individual attention and awareness during your facial. |
Q: What about sunblock?
A: We urge everyone to use sunblock, no matter what color your skin is. We have a variety of different kinds of sunblocks, from light micronized zinc (anti-inflammatory) oil free sunblocks, to sunblocks with built-in moisture, to sunblocks for darker skins and waterproof formulas. We have a sunblock that is right for you and your lifestyle. |
Q: I don't like my home products anymore, do you have any suggestions on what my skin needs and how to take care of it?
A: Our aestheticians are passionate about skincare and want to see your skin improve as much as you do. They are always happy to design a home regime that works for you and your lifestyle - whether it's an easy 1-2-3 process or more in depth with many different creams and serums. |
Q: Will I be able to go out-and-about after my facial?
A: Definitely! You will be able to resume your normal activities right away. |
Q: I have a prescription for... Tazorac, Avage, Retin A, Retin A-Micro, Renova etc... can I use it the night before my facial treatment, and if not, how long should I abstain from using it?
A: Please, if at all possible, try not to use your prescription retinols, bleaching creams and AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) at least 2-3 days prior to the treatment. |
Q: If I get a facial, will I be red and have peeling skin afterward?
A: It depends on your skin type, and the kind of facial both you and your aesthetician decide to do. We have facials that are gentle and when you leave you may be mildly pink, but overall your skin will have a fresh, healthy glow. Other treatments could possibly leave one very pink and the skin could peel (like a mild sunburn) anywhere from a few days up to one-two weeks. This may sound unpleasant, but the results are more than worth the sacrifice. |
